Leah Filley (EMC) grew up in Melbourne, Australia. She holds a BFA degree majoring in Film and Theater Studies from The University of Melbourne and a MFA in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University, New York City. In Australia she worked in theatre as well as in film and commercials. She completed a Graduate Apprenticeship at The CRY HAVOC Company where she continues to be a contributing artist. She was part of a year long tour with National Players, Tour 65, America’s longest running touring company, performing in ‘Macbeth’ (playing Lady Macbeth’), ‘Comedy of Errors’ and ‘The Odyssey’. In July 2014 she completed a wonderful run of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ playing Miranda, at Olney Theatre Centre in Maryland. She was thrilled to be cast as Goneril in the feature film of ‘King Lear’, directed by Alexander Barnett, which is currently in post production and due for release in 2016. WE ARE ROM3, a short film adaptation of ‘Julius Caesar’ that she co-wrote with Drew Feldman is complete and has so far been part of the Official Selection of four film festivals: Joshua Tree International Film Festival (California, USA), Red Dirt International Film Festival (Oklahoma, USA), Shakespeare on Film (Straford Upon Avon, England), and Trail Dance International (Oklahoma, USA). She completed a sold out run of an all-female ‘Julius Caesar’ as part of the 2016 Melbourne Fringe Festival with the wonderful Essential Theatre. The show was also part of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe Festival, and just completed an extremely successful run at the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Before heading to Edinburgh, she performed in a sold out production of Oscar Wilde’s ‘The Ballad of Reading Gaol’ at the Old Melbourne Gaol.
